This is your independent research project.  It is designed to help prepare you for your MYP Personal Project that you will complete next year.

It may seem like a long way off, but you will be applying to colleges before you know it. Learn how to tell your story in the form of a personal statement. Students will explore the question: To what extent is my personal statement a reflection of myself as a person and of my culture?

Formulating a quality argument is a skill you can take with you the rest of your life. Students will explore the question: How do the elements of the rhetorical triangle work together to persuade?

Knowledge and understanding derive from multiple sources and communicate ideas through various means depending on purpose and context. Students will explore the question: Can there be knowledge without understanding?

The summer reading novel provides an access point for the exploration of perspectives, plot, characterization, format, and style of a text. Students will explore the question: To what extent does a person’s perspective influence his or her interpretation of events?

Conflict propels character and plot development while offering thematic areas of exploration. Students will explore the question: To what extent does a person’s reaction to conflict reveal something about that person’s character?

Cultural forms such as the arts and media can create a venue through which those who are marginalized have a voice. In this interdisciplinary unit, students will explore history, music, culture, and literature in order to give a voice to those who have been silenced.
