ABOUT ME

IMG_20180629_114127285.jpg

I'm a pot-o'-day coffee addict and lover of puns, SpongeBob, and spicy food, especially Mexican and Thai. When I'm not teaching, I enjoy traveling, reading, and cooking to name a few. I'm originally from the Windy City AKA Chicago, Illinois (pronounced il-uh-noi), USA. I studied at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, where I earned my Bachelor of Arts in English Literature and Master of Education in Curriculum and Instruction. I'm currently making waves in the the south of Brazil in Porto Alegre, although Brazil hasn't been my first international adventure. I've also lived and taught in San Jose, Costa Rica (Pura vida, mae!) and Istanbul, Turkey (Türkçe yok).

It's hard to believe that I've been teaching for over 13 years now, but seeing and feeling my growth as a teacher and person satisfies the soul. (My deepest apologies to my first set of students, lbvs!) I hope to help you realize a similar sense of growth and satisfaction as a student. I'm excited for our learning adventure together!

Check out below for what I'm currently reading and places I've traveled.
