Let’s check out the beginning of 1984 as a comic book: Chapter 1. Then read chapter 1 of the novel. Compare and contrast the two.

Activity 3: Principles of Newspeak

Now let's take a look at the appendix of 1984, "The Principles of Newspeak."  Follow along with the text as we listen to the audio for the introduction.  Then, work in groups to analyze one of the three types of vocabulary using the following questions.
